Intermittent Fasting... When You Hear This, You May Reconsider!
If you've been paying attention, you probably know that I'm not a big fan of intermittent fasting.
That said, even I was shocked when I came across a recent study showing that restricting eating to an 8-hour window can increase the risk of death from cardiovascular disease by—are you ready for this—91%!
What?
91%. It sounds so outrageous that even I had a hard time believing it. Yet, the study tracked 20,000 people over an 8-year period.
Crazy, right?
This fad has been popular for the last few years, promising weight loss, improved metabolic health and even longevity. Boy, were they wrong.
While this approach to eating may be effective for short-term weight loss—like any other fad—it's not ideal as a long-term lifestyle choice.
The study also uncovered an increased risk of cancer-related deaths. With intermittent fasting, the risks far outweigh the benefits.
If you have been using intermittent fasting as a lifestyle choice, I really, really, really encourage you to reconsider. Learn how to eat in a balanced way that's not causing your body additional stress. Focus on nutrient-dense foods during eating windows and ensure your overall health is prioritized.
