Have you ever felt alone in your journey through the transition of menopause? Have you experienced symptoms that left you wondering where to turn for help? Perhaps you’ve tried hormone replacement therapy only to find it lacking in effectiveness, or maybe you’ve felt uncertain about where to seek the support you need.

If any of this resonates with you, know that you’re not alone. Many women have walked a similar path.

For far too long, menopause has been sidelined in the medical world, treated almost as a taboo subject. Discussions about it were whispered, if they happened at all. Research into its intricacies was scant, leaving questions unanswered and symptoms misunderstood.

Thankfully, as women continue to rise in influence within our culture, the silence surrounding menopause is being shattered. Women with large platforms, popularity, and even fame are speaking out, dismantling the stigma that has shrouded this natural phase of life.

Yet, as awareness grows, so does the attention of big pharma. Research into menopause is now underway, but often with the aim of developing medications to merely mask symptoms rather than addressing underlying causes.

Last year, I was prompted to create a video after seeing a Super Bowl commercial discussing hot flashes. The exorbitant cost of such an advertisement signaled the impending arrival of a new medication. And sure enough, this year, the ads are back—this time with a medication attached.

What frustrates me most is that women don’t necessarily need medication to alleviate hot flashes. These symptoms often indicate imbalances in the body, which can be addressed naturally. Why subject yourself to potential side effects like nausea, diarrhea, or even exacerbation of the very symptoms you’re trying to relieve, when there are safer, more holistic approaches available?

To compound matters, the long-term effects of these new medications remain largely unknown, as they’ve only been studied for a short duration. We’re essentially being used as guinea pigs, risking our health in the name of quick fixes.
